Bandhani Threads did not begin in a boardroom.
It began with a journey back home.
In the quiet days of the late COVID era, I found myself visiting my ancestral roots in Osian village, a place I had known of, but never truly understood.
Like many who grow up in fast-paced cities, my perception of villages had always been limited. I saw them as simple, slower, maybe even behind.
But Osian had a different story waiting for me.
For the first time, I witnessed the art of Bandhani not as a product but as a way of life. I saw women sitting together, tying thousand of tiny knots with patience and precision, carrying forward a craft that has lived through generations. But what moved me most wasn’t just the art… it was the strength behind it.
These women were not just artisans.
They were providers, creators, decision-makers quietly running households, contributing financially, and doing it all with a sense of dignity that needed no validation.
And then I met Mani Devi.
A widow for over a decade, Mani Devi had faced life in its harshest form. But instead of breaking, she built. In her modest home in Osian, she runs her own Bandhani work, supporting not just her children Sona and Kisna but also her in-laws. With a dream in her eyes, she plans to send her daughter to Delhi for higher education next year.
In that moment, something shifted within me.
The labels I had unknowingly carried being of “urban” being ahead and “rural” being behind fell apart. What I saw instead was pride, resilience, and a community where women stand equal, not because they demand it, but because they live it every single day.
That was the moment Bandhani Threads was born.
Not just as a brand, but as a bridge between worlds, between perceptions, and between the hands that create and the people who wear.
Today, we work closely with incredible artisans like Mani Devi, Susiya, Geeta, and over 15 households, along with our talented homegrown designer and tailor, Ajeet. Together, we are on a journey to bring this timeless craft into modern fashion, without losing its soul.
